More CVs. More Choices. Or Just More Noise?

“We need more candidates” is a phrase recruiters are all too familiar with.
But in a specialist market like SAP, more CVs don't necessarily solve the problem. You can have 20 profiles sitting in your inbox and still not have the person you actually need.
The real challenge is fit
SAP hiring is rarely about finding someone who simply knows the right module. The right candidate might need a very specific combination of:
- SAP module and technical expertise
- Relevant project or transformation experience
- Experience with the particular version or technology you're using
- The right level of seniority
- Availability that matches your project timeline
- Location, travel or language requirements
- The ability to work effectively within your team and project environment
This is a much narrower pool.
A CV can tick every technical box and still not be the right hire. Equally, someone who doesn't look like an obvious match on paper may have delivered almost exactly what your project needs.
This is why context matters.
Quality over quantity
Sending more CVs can create the impression that recruitment is moving forward, but if hiring managers are spending hours reviewing profiles that don't really fit, it will actually slow the process down.
Good SAP recruitment should reduce that noise.
We do this by understanding the requirement properly before going to market, knowing which experience genuinely matters, and being honest when a profile isn't right.
The objective isn't to send ten CVs, it's finding the few people worth having a conversation with.
The talent market isn't just a database
This is particularly important in SAP, where experienced professionals are often already working on projects, considering their next move selectively, or available for only a limited window.
Finding them requires more than searching for keywords. It requires knowing the market, understanding people's experience and motivations, and being able to connect that with what a client actually needs.
Because good SAP recruitment isn't about finding more CVs, it's about finding better-fit people. And sometimes, that's the difference between filling a vacancy and actually solving a hiring problem.
